NBC Universal populating PSN Video Store

It may not have been the most gaming-related news to come out of Sony's 2008 E3 Media & Business Summit press conference, but the hardware maker certainly surprised many with the news that its PlayStation Network Video Store was open for business. From the outset, Sony's video store has enjoyed content from major studios such as Lionsgate, Warner, Disney, Paramount, Turner Entertainment, MGM, and, naturally, Sony Pictures Entertainment. Soon, the PlayStation Video Store's library will become a measure larger. The Hollywood Reporter reports today that Sony Computer Entertainment and NBC Universal have reached an agreement to make a variety of its content available through the service. Downloaded content will be viewable both on the PSP and the PS3.

Halo suit seeks $90 million

Microsoft's Halo franchise was a leader in getting online console gaming off of the ground as well as the starting point for the Xbox 360's clearest advantage in the current-generation system wars, Xbox Live. It also happens to be the topic of the latest patent-infringement case to be brought against Microsoft, litigation that could cost the publisher $90 million in damages. In opening statements reported on by the Bloomberg financial news service today, New York-based Paltalk Holdings told a jury that Microsoft's console and the Halo franchise infringed on two patents developed by Mpath Interactive. According to Paltalk's lawyer Max Tribble, the patents involve "technology for ways to control interactive applications over multiple computers."

Kohnke drops its lawsuit against Perpetual

The breakup of Perpetual Entertainment has been a messy, messy affair. The death of Gods and Heroes, the uncertainty over Star Trek Online, and former Perpetual PR representatives Kohnke's lawsuit were all signs of MMO development gone horribly wrong.

Behind the scenes of MMO game development

You may or may not be familiar with the "ghostly wolf" debacle that occurred in the World of Warcraft recently. It involved a pet wolf that would not have been able to be tamed by Hunters without some clever usage of game mechanics and some costly preparation.

Don't stop believing; Journey's coming to Second Life

Personally, I'm surprised they didn't go with something more fan-relatable; I'd have called it 'Frontiers', or 'Wheel in the Sky', or, best of all, 'Kohoutek'.

Group dynamics

Leading a group in a dungeon instance can often feel like herding cats, especially if you're playing with a pick-up-group (PUG). In the game of Star Wars Galaxies, making Star Wars Galaxies Credits is necessary.
